NOW WE CAN RELAX
The House passed a bill on Wednesday that will keep the Government funded for 7 days. This will allow the house to return from their long weekend to vote on a bill that will fund the government for 6 weeks.
It is absurd that the US government cannot work out funding for more than a month and a half. They should all be locked in a room and not let out until they figure out how to fund operations for a year.
It is not surprising that Congress’s approval rating has fallen to 15%, what is surprising is that there is anyone left who still approves of the job they are doing.
SCIENCE – IT’S A METHOD NOT A GUARANTEE
In ‘The American’ the American Enterprise Institute’s magazine, Kenneth P. Green writes an article entitled ‘The Right isn’t Anti-Science’: He claims that: “when you look at the gyrations of environmental NGOs and agencies, the political Left is far more anti-science than the Right”.
He makes thia accusation because he says that the left has a long history of environmental alarmism, from “Silent Spring’ on. But while the predictions of the environmentalists have not always been dead-on accurate, they have created an environmental sensibility that has created a cleaner America.
It is said that politics makes strange bed fellows, perhaps none stranger than unabashed Capitalists and Communists agreeing that enviromental considerations should take a back seat to industry.
He also claims that it is silly to say that: “Right-leaning farmers and animal breeders don’t understand the idea of random mutation and selective retention of traits.” Great, but the majority of Republican presidential candidates deny Evolution and right-wing school boards want to teach creationism in science class.
The Left may not always be correct but they pay attention to the scientific method. Contrast that with the Right which gets much of its ‘science’ from a 2,000 year old book – just because.
DON’T GO ALL CONSPIRACY THEORY ON ME.
President Ahmadinejad of Iran has angered people with his Holocaust denial and his theory that 9/11 was a US government plot. The latter has especial ticked off Al Qaeda. As they say in their magazine ‘Inspire”
“The Iranian government has professed on the tongue of its president Ahmadinejad that it does not believe that al Qaeda was behind 9/11 but rather, the U.S. government,” an article reads. “So we may ask the question: why would Iran ascribe to such a ridiculous belief that stands in the face of all logic and evidence?”…
“For them, al Qaeda was a competitor for the hearts and minds of the disenfranchised Muslims around the world,” the article says. “Al Qaeda… succeeded in what Iran couldn’t. Therefore it was necessary for the Iranians to discredit 9/11 and what better way to do so? Conspiracy theories.”
Notice that Al Qaeda invokes “logic and evidence”
I’m not sure where Ahmadinejad and Al Qaeda stand on the moon landing.
