Trump’s Weakness Is Diminishing America.

in Trump presidency

Braggadocio is not courage. Bluster is not strength. Promises are not achievement. But that is all Donald Trump has. He preens, but just for show. He can’t fire an employee in person. He can’t criticize a subordinate man to man. He tweets his jibes. And whines at rallies. He lacks the balls to face his adversaries one on one.

He is mentally weak and physically flabby. He lacks the energy to advance his agenda. He can’t cajole, back slap and arm twist his way to legislative success. He loads his obesity onto golf carts. He lumbers onto stages and out of rooms. There is no bounding down steps. At his age, Reagan was still riding horses.

Trump is full of promises – great trade deals, environmental treaties, health plans – but there are no results. Remember when we were going to be so tired of winning? It was a whitewash, a hoax, a casual lie tossed at uncritical zealots. The boredom comes from the cheaply made, soon dishonored commitments.

Lincoln had his team of rivals. Trump has his coterie of ass kissers. And if their ass kissing misses the mark they are scorned – Sessions. Marginalized – Tillerson. Or fired – Priebus. The exceptions are the generals. From them, he hopes for a patina of strength to mask his crevasse-deep weakness. He is the epitome of stolen valor.

And while these military men seem determined to serve their country and honor the Constitution, even among them he has found some whose mindset is catnip to his dystopian views.

His new Chief of Staff, Gen. John Kelly, is an accomplished soldier and a well-qualified manager. However, he has a hard-on for the border wall – and a passionate fear of terrorism. Saying, “It’s everywhere. It’s constant. It’s nonstop. The good news for us in America is we have amazing people protecting us every day. But it can happen here almost any time”. Adding, if you weren’t paranoid enough, that the threat of terrorism is so severe that some people would “never leave the house” if they knew the truth.

His bleak and dire prognoses mesh with Trump’s view of America as a dismal swamp of ravening illegals. With sanctuary cities where execrable gangs perpetrate pornographic horrors: “They don’t want to use guns because it’s too fast and it’s not painful enough. So they’ll take a young, beautiful girl, 16, 15, and others, and they slice them and dice them with a knife because they want them to go through excruciating pain before they die.”

Trump’s small boy admiration of toughness commands he suck up to strongmen and dictators. For decades America has been dedicated to spreading democracy and fighting tyranny. Now the President celebrates Putin, Erdogan, Duterte, Modi, Duda and the absolute monarchy of Saudi Arabia. But while he celebrates their like-mindedness, he lacks the effectiveness of his objets d’amour.

When Trump looks in the mirror, he sees a tough minded, master negotiator. Who perhaps even believes he’s truly going to make America ‘great again’. But the man looking in the mirror is a fake. An incompetent braggart, incapable of achievement. A failure whose ineptitude has diminished America.
