“Sociopaths cannot love, by definition they do not have higher values, and they almost never feel comfortable in their own skins. They are loveless, amoral, and chronically bored, even the few who become rich and powerful.” ― Martha Stout, The Sociopath Next Door

Ted Cruz is not new to pissing people off. He has been shadowed by antipathy from his college days, through his work on George Bush’s 2000 election, to his Senate half-term. He is an odious man with all the qualities of an odious man. Ego, self-regard, arrogance, abrasiveness, pride, vanity, smugness – salted with a suspicion of sociopathy. All of which lies as a mantle on a pathological liar.

Screen Shot 2016-01-31 at 4.37.50 PMLet his latest mailing stand witness to Cruz’s malignancy. In Iowa, winners are decided by caucus. It is a complex process – where success rests on turnout. Cruz’s solution? Send out what appeared to be an official mailing, abrading Iowans for their ‘failure’ as a voter.

Screen Shot 2016-01-31 at 4.40.35 PMThis accusatory document was sent in an envelope boldly stamped: ‘PUBLIC RECORD’, ‘VOTER VIOLATION’, ELECTION ALERT’, & ‘FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED’.

The Cruz campaign’s actions were so egregious the Iowa Secretary of State had to reassure the citizens that how often or not you voted was not monitored. And that a spotty or non-existent voting record was not a violation.

Was Cruz abashed by this psychological abuse? Good God no. He is not a man to admit error – or even understand he made one. In his words, “I will apologize to no one for using every tool we can to encourage Iowa voters to come out and vote.”

Regardless, it is shatteringly poor judgement on Ted Cruz’s part. With fortune, this shameless shenanigan will bite him in the ass.

One oddity of the 2016 primaries is that not all voters are slavishly loyal to party. For a significant number, the choice is between Trump and Sanders. Also for most GOP voters Trump is either their first choice or doesn’t rate highly at all.

The GOP Establishment Celebrates the New Establishment Candidate.

“Being an American means never having to say you’re sorry.” ― Kurt Vonnegut, Hocus Pocus The Republican establishment so despises Ted Cruz that they are coalescing behind Donald Trump.
