Colin Powell is known as a man of rectitude. But beneath his public facade, he is quite the chatty Cathy. His email was hacked, and his salty opinions of his political contemporaries have now been published. What did he have to say?

In Powel’s estimation, Donald Trump is “national disgrace” and an “international pariah”. He added that Trump’s birtherism was ‘racist’. And said of his attempt to paint Obama as a Muslim, ” ‘What if he was?’ Muslims are born as Americans every day.”

For whom Powell tolls.

He further provided an excellent analysis of what makes Trump tick “To go on and call him an idiot just emboldens him.” And just in case you missed the point added, “Trump has no sense of shame.”

Powell also had some thoughts on his peers in the Bush administration. He wasn’t impressed with the book “Exception: Why the World Needs a Powerful America” – penned by Dick Cheney and daughter Liz. He said of the authors “They are idiots and spent force peddling a book that ain’t going nowhere”.

Powell also emailed Condoleeza Rice about Donald Rumsfeld’s limitations. “One day when we both have had too many drinks we can discuss why [President George W. Bush] tolerated him [Donald Rumsfeld] and why Dick [Cheney], a successful SecDef, was so committed to Don. I must say I gagged as [Bush] praised him as the ‘best’ at the statuary hall unveiling.”

Neocon and Iraq war promoter, Paul Wolfowitz, was dismissed as “a fucking liar”.

The Clintons came in for some scorn. Powell said of Hillary“I would rather not have to vote for her, although she is a friend I respect. A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational.” His opinion of Bill was more earthy, saying that he was, “still dicking bimbos at home (according to the NYP).”

Powell should write another book.
