Trump’s Utopia: A Fact-Free Imaginary Eden.

Donald Trump is a second-rate human being – whose greatest talent is the ability to bring out the worst in the people who support him.

His fan base is proudly ignorant and reflexively racist. They don’t think. They don’t need policies, logic or truth. They treat politics like a NASCAR race – boring except for the crashes. The campaign is a disaster movie. Trump warns that the Earth is threatened by an asteroid – and he has the plan (secret) to avert disaster.

The evangelicals are so tumescent at his strident xenophobia they view him as a modern day Moses. He will lead the lost tribe of ‘real Americans’ out of the liberal desert of the last eight years. Lead them into the land of freedom and flag pins.

In this utopia, the colored folk stand for the anthem. The Bible is the legal code. The unmarried don’t have sex. Minorities have no rights. Gays are converted. All undocumented workers are gone – and somehow Americans were found to make beds, clean house, slaughter meat and pick produce.

The trade deficit has magically disappeared. The national debt is a distant memory. Russia, China, Iran and North Korea are reduced to forelock-tugging subservience. There will be no trade pacts. Americans will make everything.

No one will pay taxes, but the military will get larger, and the deficit will become a surplus. Rich folk, now even richer, will work dawn-to-dusk to create well-paying jobs – while unions are completely disbanded. Every bridge, tunnel, road and airport will be repaired beyond imagining, believe me.

Trump's crew. The bad. The worse. And the ugly

And who supports this nonsense? The Trump acolytes. Most prominently Rudy Giuliani, Chris Christie, Paul LePage, Sean Hannity and Kellyanne Conway.

Rudy Giuliani was once a respected Mayor – a steadying voice after 9/11. He isn’t anymore. He says that Trump should sit out the two remaining debates. Rudy added that because Hillary staying married to Bill, she’s too stupid to be President. This serial adulterer has the chutzpah to offer opinions on marriage.

Chris Christie offered thus gem “The birther issue is a done issue. I’ve said it’s a done issue for a long time, and Donald Trump has said it’s a done issue now.” Consider thisIf I go into the china store and break all the china, the china stays broken  – even if I say I’m done.

He added,“It’s just not true that he kept it up for five years.” A demonstrable absurdity, in the face of numerous recordings of Trump keeping it up.

Maine’s Governor, Paul LePage’s behavior has been so egregious that Mainers from both parties have called on him to quit. And the Washington Post published an editorial telling him to resign.

LePage’s racial animus is legendary. He claimed that minorities made up 90% of drug arrests. When analysis showed the correct number was 14% his office said that it was time to ‘move on’. Seems making ridiculous assertions and then pretending it never happened is a Trump camp trademark.

Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s latest campaign manager, is a well-educated and accomplished woman. So when she spouts complete nonsense on TV, you have to wonder how she justifies it to herself. Just to give one example, she defended Trump’s false allegation that Lester Holt was a Democrat. She explained Trump wasn’t lying because he was unaware Holt is a registered Republican.

In Trump world, a lie isn’t a lie if you don’t know the facts. And that is why truth is the enemy to Trump’s disciples.
